    BOD Incubators, which stands for Biochemical Oxygen Demand Incubators, is a measure of the microbe’s ability to deplete the oxygen content. The BOD incubator is used for the purpose of deriving this measure based on which various conclusions can be reached.

    One of the key arenas where this instrument proves to be useful is testing of pollutants in water. When this instrument is used to test a sample taken from a river or stream that might be polluted, it helps ascertain the amount of contaminants in the water. Low BOD indicates that the water quality is good, whereas high BOD shows that it is highly polluted. Other important arenas where it is used for measurement purposes include:

The DO or Dissolved Oxygen in the sample is measured before and after incubation and the difference between the before and after value is determined as the BOD.
