About Laboratory Autoclaves

Our autoclaves perform sterilization on various items, usually at 212°F and 275°F, for about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the weight of the contents and their size. The Laboratory Autoclave Equipment has an interesting history behind it that goes back to 1879, when it was invented by Charles Chamberland. It was invented for the purpose of assisting sterile surgery, which at the time was newly discovered as having many advantages. The traditional open-flame environment was considered not good enough to bring about the desired levels of sterilization, which resulted in the use of the autoclave.
